In January the department responded to twelve calls for service, including a serious fire that heavily damaged a motor lodge in Sturbridge. Firefighters spent 73.5 hours training on such topics as working around roof top solar panels, making a transitional attack on a building fire, and how to handle a chemical suicide incident. Department personnel spent 21 hours maintaining department equipment, vehicles, and facilities. Four hours were spent on fire prevention activities. Chief Martell represented the department at the monthly meeting of the Massachusetts Fire District Seven Chiefs’ Association The ambulance responded to 37 incidents.
Anniversaries: F/F Dan Driscoll has served the department for seven years, and F/F David Merlo for five years. Thank you both for your service and dedication.
