Who We Are
The Brookfield Fire Battalion was formed by Brookfield’s firefighters many years ago to support the activities and the members of the Brookfield Fire Department. We are not a municipal entity and exist solely to support Brookfield’s firefighters and our community. The Battalion collects money through fundraising activities and private donations, but does not receive financial support from the municipal government. The Battalion provides firefighters with class ‘A’ uniforms for formal occasions such as funerals, parades, and memorial services. The Battalion has also donated equipment to the town, including the ‘Jaws of Life’ extrication equipment, an air compressor, communications equipment, and station furnishings. The Battalion contributes generously to various charities and other community groups.
Chief George H. Clancy Memorial Award
One of the most important functions of the Fire Battalion is the administration of the George H. Clancy Memorial Award. George ‘Red” Clancy joined the Brookfield Fire Department in 1950 and served until his death in 1988. This monetary award is given each year to a high school senior from Brookfield who we feel shares Mr. Clancy’s commitment to our community. Applications can be obtained from your high school guidance office starting in March. All applications are reviewed and the winner selected by a panel of battalion members.
